A busy Friday for the Rescue Services.

7 years ago - Friday 20th April
• 0500 hours - the helicopter was called to a motor vehicle accident at Ongaonga in Central Hawkes Bay. On arrival the driver of the vehicle was deceased – from a suspected medical event.
• 1615 hours – the helicopter was called to Wairoa to a 43 y.o. male suffering from a cardiac event, he was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.
• 2200 hours – the helicopter was called to Te Puia Medical Centre in northern Hawkes Bay to a 26 male, he was transported to Gisborne Hospital in serious condition.

Accident on SH-5

7 years ago - Wednesday 18th April
• 1500 hours - The helicopter was tasked to SH-5 to the bridge over the Mohaka River for a motor vehicle accident. The passengers in the car were assessed at the scene, no significant injuries were found so no patients transported.

Hospital transfers and Search & Rescue

7 years ago - Tuesday 17th April
• 1430 hours – flew to Wairoa to retrieve a 67 y.o. female suffering from a stroke, she was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment
• 1600 hours – returned to Wairoa to retrieve a 77 y.o. suffering from a cardiac condition, he was flown to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.
• 2320 hours – tasked by the Rescue Coordination Centre to Waihou River, west of Lake Waikaremoana, to search for a beacon activation, the mission was aborted en route due to adverse weather.

Cardiac Patient

7 years ago - Saturday 14th April
• 1415 hours – flew to Wairoa to a 62 y.o. male with a cardiac condition. He was flown to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.

Hospital transfers

7 years ago - Friday 13th April
• 1045 hours – flew to Wairoa to retrieve a 33 y.o. male who suffered a deep laceration to a forearm as a result of a workplace accident, the patient was flown to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.
• 1430 hours – transported a 45 y.o. male patient with cardiac complications, from Hawkes Bay to Wellington Hospital. On the return journey brought a 57 y.o. male patient back from Wellington to Hawkes Bay Hospital.

Two year old with head injury

7 years ago - Thursday 12th April
• 0900 hours – flew to Wairoa to retrieve an 87 y.o. male with a dislocated hip – he was flown to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.
• 1330 hours – the rescue helicopter was called to Ruakutiri in northern Hawke’s Bay to attend to a 2 y.o. female suffering from a head injury incurred when she climbed on farm gate and fell – the young child was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further assessment.

Wairoa transfer and Mahia pick up

7 years ago - Tuesday 10th April
• 0845 hours – Flew to Wairoa Hospital to retrieve a 44 y.o female who had a cardiac event – she was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.
• 1515 hours – the rescue helicopter was tasked to Mahia for a 58 y.o. male with a dislocated hip – he was flown to Hawkes Bay hospital for further treatment

Wellington Transfers!

7 years ago - Monday 9th April
• 0600 hours - Transported a 58 y.o. male, with an acute medical condition, from Hawkes Bay Hospital to Wellington Hospital. On the return journey brought a 76 y.o. female from Wellington to Hawkes Bay Hospital.
• 1330 hours – back to Wellington again, with a 69 y.o. female patient with a cardiac condition.


A very busy Sunday for the chopper

7 years ago - Sunday 01 April
Time = 11:30 a.m.
The Rescue Helicopter was called to Waipataki Beach to a male in his mid 70’s who had a cardiac arrest – he was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital for further treatment.

Time = 3:00 p.m.
The Helicopter was tasked to a rural location at Mangaorapa in Southern Hawke’s Bay to a male child who had fallen from a farm bike – he was assessed at the scene by Paramedics from St John, and transport was not necessary.

Time = 5:00 p.m.
The Helicopter was called again to Southern Hawke’s Bay – this time to Blackhead Beach to a 36 y.o. male who dislocated his shoulder – he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for further treatment.

Porangahau emergency pick up

7 years ago - Saturday 31 March
1030 The rescue helicopter was responded to a camp ground at Porangahau for a 61 year old male who had a medical problem. He was transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for further treatment.
