Volcanic Eruption at White Island, Bay of Plenty

5 years ago - Monday 9th December
1500 hours Tasked by Air Desk to fly to Whakatane Airport, and await instructions re the Whakaari/White Island incident
1730 hours Transported a male patient with burns and other injuries caused by the volcanic explosion from Whakatane Wharf to Waikato Hospital
1915 hours Returned to Whakatane
2300 hours Transported a female patient with burns, as a result of the volcanic explosion, from Whakatane Hospital to Auckland Hospital.

Ashley Clinton

5 years ago - Sunday 8th December
• 1315 hours Tasked by Air Desk to a farm at Ashley Clinton, where a farm worker suffered a laceration to his arm whilst working on a farm, he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up treatment.

Very Busy Friday

5 years ago - Friday 6th December
• 0030 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Porongahau to a female patient with a medical condition, she was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up treatment.
• 0620 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Te Pohue to a truck versus motorbike accident, the Rescue Helicopter transported a female patient with multiple critical injuries.
• 1000 hours Flew to Wairoa with DHB Flight Team to retrieve a male patient with a respiratory complaint.
• 1430 hours Returned to Wairoa with a DHB Flight Team to a male patient with a medical condition.

Hospital Transfers

5 years ago - Thursday 5th December
• 1300 hours Flew to Wellington with a DHB Flight team and a 50 y/o patient with a cardiac condition.
• 1645 hours Flew to Wairoa with DHB flight team to a female patient aged in her 50’s, suffering from a stroke.

Young boy has a fall

5 years ago - Wednesday 4th December
• 1230 hours Tasked by the Air Desk to Putere to a young boy suffering from concussion as a result of a fall – he was flown to Hawkes Bay Hospital for follow up assessment.

Busy Tuesday for the crew

5 years ago - Tuesday 3rd December
• 0200 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Wairoa to a medical incident – due to adverse weather encountered near Wairoa the helicopter was unable to complete the mission and turned back to Hastings Base. A St John road ambulance attended to the patient.
• 0645 hours Flew to Wairoa Hospital with a DHB Flight Team to retrieve a male child with a medical condition, he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up treatment.
• 1230 hours Returned to Wairoa with DHB Flight Team to a male patient aged in his 20’s with a medical condition, he was transported to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
• 1430 hours To Wairoa with DHB flight team to a female patient aged in her 50’s with a medical condition, she was transported to Hawkes Bay Hospital.

Wairoa Hospital Transfer

5 years ago - Monday 2nd December
• 1500 hours Tasked by DHB to transport a male patient from Hawkes Bay Hospital to return him to his home base of Wairoa.

Wellington Hospital

5 years ago - Saturday 30th November
• 0930 hours Transported a 60 y/o male patient with a cardiac condition, along with a Doctor and Flight Nurse, to Wellington Hospital for advanced cardiac treatment.

Mahia and Car Accident

5 years ago - Friday 29th November
• 1530 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Mahia to a male patient, aged in his 80’s who had fallen and dislocated his hip, he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for treatment.
• 1830 hours Flew to Ongaonga in Central Hawke’s Bay to attend a single vehicle rollover where the driver sustained back and neck injuries, he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for treatment.

Lake Tutira

5 years ago - Thursday 28th November
• 0830 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Lake Tutira to a male patient with a medical condition, he was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up assessment.
