Winch Training with Coastguard a Success
On 14 February, the Rescue Helicopter Crew took part in a training exercise with the Hawke’s Bay Coastguard, simulating a rescue from a boat out at sea near Napier. Using a life raft tied alongside the Coastguard vessel, the Rescue Helicopter Crew winched a Coastguard crew member from the life raft and up into the helicopter. Activities such as this, in collaboration with other emergency services in the area, is an important part of our Crew’s annual training, helping to ensure that the life-saving services that we deliver to the Hawke’s Bay Community is of the highest possible standard.
