Iona College 'Goes Red' for the Rescue Helicopter
Students from Iona College held a mufti day on Thursday 23 June, to help raise money for the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter. This year's theme, which was 'Wear Red for Rescue' raised a staggering $413.80 in aid of the organisation.
Teacher David Trousdell said, "this is one of our most successful mufti days yet, and the students really enjoyed wearing their red outfits and supporting such a great cause".
Fundraising Marketing Manager, Laura Hyde, who gave a talk about the Rescue Helicopter ahead of the mufti day, said, "It was wonderful to meet the students at Iona College, and we are blown away by this incredible amount raised from their mufti day - it certainly will go a long way to helping us save lives in Hawke's Bay. Thank you so much!"
It costs around $2.3 million each year to keep the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter operational, and the Trust need to raise $1.3 million from the community.
