The Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust is a registered charity, established to provide a dedicated Rescue Helicopter service to the Hawke’s Bay. Each year our crew assists in nearly 400 missions within the region, with over 80% of these missions providing urgent medical assistance at accident scenes or inter-hospital transfers for the critically ill.
Our Rescue Helicopter is also utilised for Police operations, National Search and Rescue operations, education, and training and demonstrations, and we cover the area from the Takapau Plains and Porangahau in the south, to Waikaremoana and the Mahia Peninsula to the north east of Hawke's Bay.
Our life saving service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is completely free of charge to everyone in our community.
Unlike some other Emergency Services, the Rescue Helicopter is a registered charity and we need to raise around $1.25 million each year to remain operational. It is only with the generous support of individuals and businesses in the community that we are able to continue saving lives.
